Bio
My name is Feiyang Zhang. Currently I am a senior focusing mainly on fashion design and fibers material studies at SAIC. Rather than sticking with only clothing, I have also huge interests in fabric making, knitting, headwear, and shoe design. Therefore, my esthetic of fashion is not only ready to wear fashion, but also more sculptural; artistic forms. As a result, I have been working hard to find the balance between ready to wear and artistic garments. Furthermore, I have passion towards the progress of making my own fabric by combining techniques such as embroidery, knitting, and screen-printing. I believe my design could tell stories itself by using the fabric I created myself.
“Night Tales”
Collection Inspiration | Artist Statement
My spring collection is inspired by dark fairytales. I am writing my own stories and creating weird, enchanting characters then design garments that fit their “characteristic.” For me, the very word “darkness” conjures all manner of things. Unknown. Unseen. Unimaginable. Unbelievable. I have been enjoying the progress of making design through my own stories; by also incorporate my fabrics I created, I wish my upcoming collection could tell their own stories.
