Women get attacked, harassed and raped everyday and only a few get justice for it. In response to the Ireland rape trial, in which the rapist defense lawyer head up the victims underwear, which happened to be a lace thong that day, and he claimed that her underwear being sexy was why she wanted it. I’ve created a collection to bring attention to women’s right of their body and own sexuality. No person should ever be touched without their consent based on what they wear. Incorporating the idea of a bride wearing white to represent innocence and virginity, the provocative idea sexy lingerie, and the violation a rape survivor experiences. I’ve created this piece so that others can feel the violation and trauma survivors have felt, and to read their stories. I hope to reach survivors in the audience and for them to not feel so alone.
