Concept |
This project was inspired by the ephemerality of nature and the aim for materializing the effortless beauty found in the transition between the life and death of the mundane. It’s focused on the fluidity of materials and how they become independent pieces that refuse to be perpetuated by human hands.
Bio |
Daniela Triana is a Colombian-born, Chicago-based designer with a background in Human Centered Design and Textiles.
She’s always had a particular interest in cultural traditions and how the knowledge and skill of craft and artisanal techniques is perpetuated through human hands. That interest, combined with an innate curiosity and a love for constantly learning, pushed her to immerse in the world of textiles, alternative materials, surface design and metalsmithing. She creates pieces and surfaces with organic materials from her homeland of Colombia, like fruit-peel quilts and tree-bark tapestries.
Her current practice in the Master of Design in Fashion, Body, and Garment is focused on exploring the relationship between the body and protective garments, and how these objects become material witnesses of one’s migratory journey.
