These masks are are meant to be playful creations that anyone can perform. The Sad King is based off a collaborative drawing I made with Emerald Pitts, a friend who I have been creating with for about two years now. The Sad King is the ruler of a fictional ensemble we have put together, with other characters yet to be made. The Unicorn also exists within this same context. Over the next couple of years we will continue to create more masks that can be preformed out in the world.

Daria Kidd is an interdisciplinary artist from south Florida. Her interest in many ways of working (fibers, ceramics, collage, and sculpture) have allowed her work to take on many forms, including performative masks.
