Concept |
Chemical imbalance is a natural phenomenon that occurs as a result of chaos throughout the world. As organisms, we’re not exempt from the imperfections of the world, chemical imbalances also exist within us. I intend to explore my personal chemical imbalance and from there create a garment that embodies imbalance and a lifelong internal battle. The weight of the garment is a part of the human experience and the weight that each of us carry on our shoulders. The garment is meant to embody an organism that represents the physical manifestation of mental health. The organism and the host live in symbiotic relationship that can be both beneficial and harmful at different times. I hope to create an artistic outlet to promote healing within myself and evoke empathy within others, to understand and accept their own imbalances.
