Witchcraft encompasses a magical world view and involves a religious divinatory. It presents a conflict between good and evil; however, witchcraft is often assumed evil. These assumptions produced deaths, torture, and scapegoating for a countless number of people due to paranoia and fear which resulted in the unfortunate occurrence of witch trials and hunts.
Poor elderly women were the first to be targeted during the Salem Witch Trials. I noticed that many of them collected herbs, that aided in their rituals, in various woven baskets which led to an exploration in weaving and plant material. Rosemary is an essential herb for witchcraft symbolizing love, rejuvenation, and purification. I am naturally dyeing cotton with rosemary then adding iron sulfate which manifests the property of protection in the spell. Magic knots are being added to the weavings of the cotton to bring forth healing and prosperity, and finally the the fabric is burned to enhance and fuse these attributes together.
Witchcraft consists of daily rituals that summon certain positive attributes to then have them manifest in that individuals life for the better. This practice is not trying to take these qualities away from others, instead it adds virtues to the individuals that practice these rituals.
