“Disappearing Tranquility”

I have keenly become aware of how humanity is scrambling rich wildernesses in the Antarctic region due to climate change. Icebergs are melting, and sea lives are disappearing. Being an empathetic person, I explores the tension between the rigidity and fragility of the tranquil nature, which is in desperate need of caring otherwise disappearing forever.

Rene, Mengyi Qin is a Chinese designer educated across Hong Kong, Milan and Chicago. She has an engineering management background from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology prior to the pursuit of fashion at School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She applies her engineering analytical skills to create garments that incorporate laser cutting, unconventional knitting, unique draping and up-cycling.

Rene looks to artist like Agnes Martin, and constantly seeks for the inner serenity and tranquility through her design. Inside the bustle of the fashion world, she creates the gentle restfulness for wearers sharing the similar philosophy of living. She seeks to explore the ephemeral, elusive, and undefinable by creating garments and art.
