Concept |
This work stems from a curiosity to mix organized and chaotic systems of weaving. The cane weaving combined with the yarn creates a form and texture that suggest both organic and geometric matrixes. I believe in the dynamic balance between the rational and natural worlds, so that I might suggest a feeling of liveliness, motion, flow like the rivers and roads I grew up surrounded by.

Olivia Nash is an artist based in Chicago and finishing her second year at The School of Art Institute of Chicago. Her focus as an artist is in fashion design, sculpture, and installation art. Her research in fashion is based around the obscure found objects that require extensive material investigation. She is intrigued by practices that require investigative work, almost like the work that emerges is secondary to the investigative process behind them. She is devoted to using the properties of the materials that she finds the most intriguing and showcasing their defining qualities. Manipulation and multiples along with color exploration and body sculpture drive her interests.
