Sustainability is a core value that I hold in my work as a designer, and I prioritize using secondhand and recycled materials whenever possible. It is essential that I support eco-friendly practices while reducing negative impacts on the environment. Incorporating upcycled materials in my garments is a recurring theme in my work. I enjoy creating fabric manipulations and unique embellishments that add a personal touch to each piece while also making use of existing materials. As a brand, I hope to encourage people to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle while also developing an appreciation for vintage and secondhand items.

For my final in 3D Embellishment, I created a piece that shows my dedication to intricate detailing. This dress required a lot of time and effort, taking me between 40-50 hours of hand beading and embellishing to complete. My inspiration for this dress was derived from a sampler I created earlier in the semester. I was able to incorporate the techniques and skills I learned throughout the year into the final product. This dress, therefore, serves as a way to express my growth as a designer and artist. This dress features hearts that appear to be dripping blood, adding a unique and captivating element to the garment. It transforms a simple silhouette into a beautiful statement piece.

The rose was made with similar materials such as, tooled fabric, paint, glitter, and lace to complement the texture already present in the sampler. I incorporated acrylic paint and glitter to add unique texture and visual interest to the piece. I created a 3D effect to highlight selected hearts to enhance the depth of the sampler with a trapunto stitch. I am very pleased with the finished project, and the new techniques I learned on the way.

Flower Ribbon Purse, 2023
I created this purse for my second project in 3D embellishment. My main inspiration going into this was nature, specifically forests. I opted for natural tones to enhance the forest theme further. We were assigned to do a variety of ribbon and feather work, which I utilized to create an array of flowers embellished with ribbons and beads. I added light blue feathers on the side which helped enhance the color palette. The strap helps tie together the natural aspect I was going for while simulating the look of moss or grass. I was pleased with the final result and the fact I am able to use it in my daily life.
