As a fashion student who is also passionate in art making, I have always felt the deep connection between fashion and art as they are separate yet indivisible, that there are possibilities of intersecting and fusing them, and this is where my yearning for art making originated. Fashion illustration is my favorite way of artistic creation, as it manifest the style of the designer as well as how their style is interpreted through the illustrator. Despite digital drawing, I also use markers, acrylic and watercolor as tools for art making. Although I don’t consider myself an artist, I want to embrace my identity as a woman through my passion in fashion that is also revealed in my art-making process, I want my audience to appreciate the power and beauty of femininity.

Picture 3 to 9 is a fashion shooting I did for the final project of my hand knitwear class, where I draw inspirations from the style and silhouette of garment in Y2K editorial shootings and fashion magazines, the low waisted mini skirt and tube tops are common design elements used in y2k fashion. I enjoy the process of turning soft, fluffy yarns into garments through knitting, crochet and weaving, the process of these repetitive hand works are meditative to me and often calms my mind. I am exploring the relationship between female body and knitwear through this project, as knitwear always comfortably wraps around ones body without giving extreme support nor pressure like corsets or other shapewear undergarment, knitwear is always inclusive to all types of body shape. There is a sense of intimacy that is played out since it outlines the natural beauty shape and curve of female body.
