I focus my works on the experimentation with unconventional materials and strive to make the unwearable, wearable. My process starts with material exploration and development, and my fascination and curiosity become my guides. Some mediums I have used include: linear materials such as yarn, cotton cord, elastic string, rubber cord, and basically anything on a spool and flat materials such as fabric, and 3 dimensional materials such as clay, joint compound, wood, and plaster. I use crocheting techniques and patterning and play with dimension, shape, color, and texture. Giving the material life is my first intent. I find materials with potential and this leads me to ideas about form and iterations of possible combinations. I enjoy when my work transforms into wearables, even when its presentation could suggest it exists purely in the sculptural world.
