My work as an artist focuses on garments, inspired by society’s anxieties around femininity and distorted female images under the male gaze. I explore unconventional garment construction, using a range of materials from leather to lace, to create aggressive silhouettes that challenge traditional beauty standards. I refer to my work as “women’s wear,” although it appeals to a broader range of people. My aim is to challenge societal norms and expectations around femininity, and expand the boundaries of traditional fashion design. By using a combination of artisanal craft techniques and synthetic processes, I create tension and contrast between materials, creating a powerful feeling for those who wear my clothing. Ultimately, my work is a reflection on gender and identity issues and serves to push the boundaries of fashion design.
