Jellyfish are mainly composed of water, which can be more than 98% water, so their fossils are extremely rare in the geological record. In other words, jellyfish die without leaving a noticeable trace. The longest and most visible traces a jellyfish can produce are probably just the bubbles it makes as it swims through the water.
It reminds me that when I move from one place to another, I will leave almost no trace. All the time I had experienced would not have made a ripple in the long course of human civilization. I am to human, and human to the universe, like water from jellyfish that evaporates. But maybe not. Instead of completely evaporating like a jellyfish, what would I inadvertently leave behind. Maybe it’s garbage, maybe it’s nothing, I’m not sure.
