My relationship with fashion has been transformed through my explorations in the fashion department, shifting focus from technique and physicality to its sociological and cultural essence. The elation I felt being able to successfully communicate an idea through not only a garment, but its documentation and presentation, surpassed my interest in its aesthetic value or technical accomplishment. Recognizing clothing’s semiotic value, I ventured into fashion photography, where dense sign relations intersect. In my photographic endeavors, I explore the abstract notion of ‘dust’ as a metaphor for the anxiety, alienation, and consumption-driven personas induced by contemporary capitalism. The play of darkness in my images suggests screen viewing, emphasizing luminosity and inviting viewers into the spatial (un)reality of the image and screen.
