An honest confrontation about mental health, this book captures the process of overcoming series of emotional and psychological struggles that plague our generation, including depression, eating disorders, and anxieties. Shared tales of woe in the urban environment, this project aims to reflect how trauma is woven into the fabric of every modern city and is changing our perception of the world. Visual art, as a result, becomes an outlet that brings solace and sublimation to our experiences of pain.
Structured as an introspective dialogue between subjective and objective selves, the book captures the dichotomy between immediate emotion and subsequent reflection. It follows an unedited stream of consciousness. The creative process of rendering the development of symptoms allowed me to recognize the value of pain.
Today more than ever, we constantly experience the ineffable sense of helplessness and fatigue towards the exacerbation in matters revolving our environment, politics, and economy. This project dispelled any doubts I had on the effect of visual art to fight the escalating personal and societal battle. It has taught me that if one is willing to access the potential of art, it will become a powerful remedy.
