Mary Griffin was inspired by the varied landscape, culture and politics of the Flagstaff, AZ region growing up. She received her BFA in painting from Northern Arizona University after spending only one semester at SAIC. She lived in NYC and worked at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tucson as a supplemental art experience prior to receiving her MFA at SAIC. Mary’s work reflects a holistic and spiritual contemplation within a psychological and emotional gestalt. Material is often applied with a conceptual approach in conversation with the dialect of formal painting elements.
