Master of Fine Arts in Studio, Fiber and Material Studies

Bambi Breakstone is an artist, costume, and fashion designer living in Chicago. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Bambi has designed costumes for television and film including Miami Vice, The Ellen Show, and costumes for Dolly Parton tours and album covers. One of the costumes she designed for Dolly Parton is in the permanent collection of the Country Music Hall of Fame. Since moving to Chicago in 2004 she has worked as a professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago teaching fashion and costume design. In addition to her teaching, Bambi created a fashion collection for the Robin Richman Boutique, and has shown her work, both fashion and fine art, at Pavilion Gallery. She has developed an art practice, creating artist’s books, paper pulp collages, photo etchings, and fiber sculpture. Her current work, titled Meditations on Mourning, addresses the cost to society of lives lost to hate.
