Eric Capper is an interdisciplinary artist exploring interiority, embodied resonance, decolonization, and the cosmos through sculpture, image, and sound. His interests as of late include sound design for moving image, experimental music, and radio art. Eric has a professional background as a writer and a woodworker specializing in fine art framing and display fabrication. He has a BA in English from the College of the Holy Cross and a Minor in Music Technology from Brooklyn College. Eric is an MFA candidate in the Sound department at School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Radio astronomy has the ability to provide the highest resolution images in all astronomy by studying the radio frequency portion of the electromagnetic spectrum emitted by astronomical objects. The data garnered from radio telescopes is translated into images, but what does it sound like? My thesis project aims to sonify data from radio telescopes, to give it Earth-bound materiality, and to provide the listener with a temporal and sonic experience of the cosmos.
