Isaac Couch

Master of Design in Fashion, Body and Garment

Isaac Couch is a fiber artist and fashion designer from rural Kentucky. He received his Bachelors in Merchandising Apparel and Textiles from the University of Kentucky in 2019. In Kentucky he found his passion for garment making as he pursued his vision at the university’s School of Art and Visual Studies. He began attending SAIC in the fall of the same year. Following graduation, he plans to begin building a new line of genderless utilitarian gear focusing heavily on self expression, natural materials, and sustainable processes.
Reacting to the resurgence of civil rights activism within the United States, his most current work, completed within the last two years, revolves around identity. He’s looking deeper into what it means to be a black citizen of the U.S. from the rural South. Everything that he has been taught is being questioned through the reimagination of the materials and symbols around him.
