Jaye TC Cho was born in 1992 in Taiwan. After a stint at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Santa Monica College, The Graduate Institute in Geneva, the University of California, Berkeley (which she also received a BA in Political Science & Development Studies), ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, the College of Business and Communication in Japan, she will finally complete her MFA in Painting & Drawing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2021. Her work ranges across media: from paintings, video, sculpture, and performative work dealing with themes of melancholy, ephemerality, loss, and temporality. More recently she has turned to digital media, exploring space, the virtual, and fears/possibilities of connection. The extent to which she respects — or, indeed, even understands — the funny/serious dichotomy is unclear. She currently lives and works between Chicago, Tokyo, and Taoyuan and has exhibited her work in the U.S., Russia, and Germany.
