Kye Benjamin Stone began painting in his native town of Portland, Oregon and is a 3rd generation painter on his maternal Grandfather’s side. Kye started working as an artist in high-school and for family theater company The North Star Theatre Company in Portland and Seattle. Graduated with honors as Salutatorian from Rainier Beach High School with a Harvard Book Award, Kye went on to earn a Bachelors of Art in Fine Art in Drawing and Painting from the University of Washington School of Art while working as a cinematographer and painter in Seattle, Washington. After co-founding film company Knightstone Productions with his brother James Stone and mother Desiree Stone, Kye is currently pursuing his Master in Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a focus in Film, Video, New Media, and Animation.

A traditional narrative film about a filmmaker, Mr. Lamp, who meets with the executives of a mega-animation studio and is disturbed by the story proposal aimed at young girl audiences.

Every art museum relies on the protection of property. As a museum guard, I surveilled and patrolled the grounds of one of the largest American art museums. The work was menial and monotonous. The patrols became a performance monitored and timed by my superiors. This led me to think of my patrol as a time based performance. I was the actor and the patrol was the action.

A 2d animated film about a young boy, Ben who has a desire to be an artist after a trip to the park. After trial and error, Ben is encouraged by his Mom to endeavor to continue pursue his career as a Little Artist.

Kye Benjamin Stone began to apply his interest of painting into a practice of cinematography with the belief that the two are interconnected. Storytelling through film uses the same rules of light, hue, and composition applicable to painting. All that is seen is an image of light. Painted, photographed, drawn, or filmed; all imagery is light. By creating an image we attempt to convey The Spirit within the image. In so doing we tell a story. While painting, has become more influenced and dependent from light principles of photography, film, video, and the moving image. Mr. Stone desires to achieve a practice mastering all mediums that tell stories by method of capturing and recreating an image of light.
