Elle Muñoz-Diaz

Master of Fine Arts in Studio, Visual Communication Design (Graphic Design)

Elle Muñoz-Diaz, originally from Texas, came to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) after attending the Pratt Institute, where they received their BFA. Their practice focuses on the examinations of communication systems—books, audio files, interactive applications, and other analog and digital media—and demonstrates the ways private, personal, and affective dimensions of lived experiences may be translated into shareable matters of record. Stepping away from criteria of design that demands clarity and universality, they use typography, images, and experimental formats to attempt to articulate the instability of memory, the changeability of feelings, and the contradictions bound up in any navigation across the psychic dimensions of modern life.
