Karvarus La’Fredrick Moore

Master of Fine Arts in Studio, Painting and Drawing

Karvarus Moore is a 25-year-old artist from Montgomery, Alabama. He received his BFA degree from Troy University in Troy, Alabama May 2019. He currently attends the School of the Art Institute of Chicago pursuing his Master of Fine Arts Degree in Painting and Drawing.

In his work he explores his identity as a Christian man, a black person, and an artist. His intention is to expound on these subjects throughout his practice. His primary motivation is to express in an apparent, vulnerable, and emotional sense the humanity and the experience of people he does life with or objects that embody their humanity. Through his Christian faith, the work highlights the beauty, struggles, and emotions of life expressed, through unique, specific narratives and processes. These narratives are presented through a series of portraits and still life’s that are an expressive lense on the humanity of family, friends, strangers, and even himself.
