Yumi Erica Fukuda


Master of Fine Arts in Studio, Sculpture

Yumi Erica Fukuda (b. 1996 Shizuoka, Japan) is a graduate of Musashino Art University, Tokyo Japan (BFA 2019). Their works include sculpture, installation, and social practice.

They are currently based in the United States and working on their MFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. They’ve had a number of exhibitions including a “Senior Thesis” Exhibition at the Musashino Art University (Tokyo). “Mistaken Identity” a two person exhibition also at Musashino Art University. An art festival partner school project with Bandung Institute of Technology, Soemardja Gallery, Bandung. Awards and scholarships include the Ezoe Memorial Recruit Foundation, Arts Division Scholarship, the Musashino Art University Research room award (2019). The “University Professor Selected Award” (Kohei Kobayashi award 2017 and the Rikiya Iwakuma award also in 2017). Internship and studio assistant include “Tets Onari Studio,” Czech Republic, 2017 and “XHE Daniel Kok & Miho Shimizu” Tokyo, 2018.
