Oona Taper is an experimental animator, filmmaker, and installation artist. Her work uses everyday hauntings and mundane apocalypses to illuminate the structures of thought that normally remain hidden. Taper is invested in materiality and the handmade, using materials as symbols that are in themselves expressive. This attention to materiality allows her work to feel like densely-layered multivalent visual poetry. She creates liminal spaces between tangible objects and the smooth, virtual world of video, turning the act of watching a video into a tactile and bodily experience.
