Jamie Leigh is an interdisciplinary artist from Ohio, graduating from Baldwin Wallace University with an undergraduate degree in Studio Art. Leigh’s subjects have focused on exploring multifaceted identity, complex emotions, the combination of material and digital art, and bold use of color. Leigh primarily works with pastels, ink washes, rough paper, memory, digital experimentation, digital illustration, and painterly moments- the focus of these materials lends to a combination of abstract spaces, existing in moments of color, and figures as a conduit for emotion and nostalgia. Leigh’s motivation for this work is to express the human nature of grief, loss, remembering ones self, and the passing of time. Aside from content, Leigh is energized by the idea of experimentation and the distortion of images from digital to physical, mimicry of materials, and layering of pastel or paint to blend and build images.
