Philipp Groth

Master of Fine Arts in Studio, Film, Video, New Media, and Animation

Philipp Groth is a German artist who employs a variety of forms to address the relationship between architecture and human, and evolution and erosion.

Rooted in his longstanding interest in reconstruction, his work displays a personal reading of built environments and challenges the audience to consider the precarious nature of public space and social ritual. At present he is concerned with reusing and transforming found materials to engage his interest in the artist’s studio as a place of becoming.

Groth received his MA with honors from the University of the Arts London and is currently a MFA candidate at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
