Piril Kaftan (born in 1993-Istanbul) is an artist, currently living and working in Chicago, Illinois. She holds a BA in International Trading and Business from Istanbul Bilgi University and is currently an MFA candidate at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, recipient of the New Artist Society Award. She is exploring symbolism, spiritualism, archeology and her multi-cultural background in her paintings and drawings using the essence of collage which she inherited from Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar. Her practice and taste heavily includes her jeweler past, she describes the practice as a “dialogue” between the two worlds.
