Rudolf Lingens

Master of Fine Arts in Studio, Sculpture

Rudolf Lingens is a Chicago-based interdisciplinary artist, curator, and educator. His work investigates the desire for possession and the pursuit of permanence; of knowledge, of identity, of property, of futurity. Lingens frames possession as a colonial construct that reifies ideology through aesthetics. Interrogating this embedded ideology, he explores the pathology and paranoia of coloniality. Lingens weaves these dispositions into works that explore the absurdity and tragedy of permanence. Drawing on interior decoration, Theater of the Absurd, and internet aesthetics, Lingens’ creates posthuman narratives that exist at the intersection of fantasy, delusion, and speculation.
