Artist Statement
I am never in a vacuum.
‘where and when I live’ is the matter. Artworks never exist in isolation from the outside of the world. There will be no disagreement over the fact that the artist should be sensitive to trends and trendy discourses. This is the responsibility of a ‘me’ living in the same era. Also, after the release of ‘I’, I am read as a public of me. The art-maker can be read through the work and breathe in the context of their own life. When looking at art, can we exclude the subject and its history and read it? Of course not. The maker who lives now can never be free from contemporary logic, and the status of art comes from that flow.
2022 work
In a society without taste, all the attention that exists in the world is consumed as an instrument for prediction. Those eyes are repeated as objects of commercial speculation, tracking, storing, selling, and reproducing consumption. It turns all humans into white mice in the laboratory, replacing their behavior with quantitative forms of data. In this context, the extreme capitalist system spreads similarly to fashion reproduction.
Modern brands make it a strategy to be consumed as their memes in the age of freedom. As providers, they are willing to feed consumers what can be called weaknesses. They are also easily exposed, making them tempting enough to consume. Numerous meme-armed ads go from the center, like a camera between mirrors, in the world of all media platforms reproduced in a repetitive form of the same language. With deliberate participation, people believe that it is our autonomous choice in the chosen world, and we repeat ourselves as mice because of the experiment. This work continuously monitors the curated human who lives without being able to rebel against the physical society of the present. I’m constantly tracking these things, and I’m very interested in the things that touch my skin and real life. It’s also not just cynical, but it’s also working to include a warm perspective on how humans who live in it were forced to do so.
