Chelsea

Bachelors of Fine Art

Chelsea is a trans-disciplinary artist who works through performance, writing, sound, and video art. In her performances, she searches for a mode of embodiment that lies at the threshold between visibility and disappearance. She explores and expands these gaps in space with the specifically haunting atmosphere she creates for her performances, which pull from minimal theatrical installations. Through slow movements, inspired by the philosophies of Butoh dance, she reaches towards a luminous shadow, becoming a shimmering trace of her earth body. Chelsea uses ambient and drone soundscapes to explore a veiled, hidden being who’s engulfed by mist and fog. Quiet and obscured, she is among the women who dwell in the void. Her work pulls from other female ambient artists, as well as her immediate connection to nature and mysticisms.
