Lee Eul

Master of Fine Arts in Studio, Art and Technology Studies

Lee Eul, the author of ‘Nonexistent Words Dictionary,’ is an enigmatic artist who defies conventional notions of self. He maintains a constant name while embodying ever-changing physical manifestations. She can appear as a young man in Mexico, an Asian woman in Venice, or even transform into an inanimate cup. Eul’s artistic exploration centers around the intricate themes of language and existence.
During his undergraduate years, Eul felt a deep interest in programming. While becoming proficient in programming, she repeatedly trained to view the world in the language of mathematics and logic. Such experiences made Eul aware of the limitations of our everyday language in capturing the essence of the world. This revelation prompted further exploration, studying the teachings of Saussure and Siddhartha. While pursuing the teachings of Siddhartha, who expounded on the relationship between existence and language, Eul even received the dharma name Tenzin Tsoejor from Dharamshala. After this series of experiences, Eul came to realize that there are realms of the world not yet encompassed by language. Thus, she became an artist exploring new possibilities of the unilluminated world by creating ‘nonexistent words.’
