Maya Odim
Maya explores rhythms, patterns and arrangements of words in text and gesture/through the written word and a developing choreographic praxis. As a poet and dancer Maya works to mount performances in ways that thicken what constitutes performance space. Maya holds a BA in American Studies (Wesleyan University) and is an MFA Writing candidate at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Maya lives and works in Chicago collaborating with artists at home and abroad often. Right now, Maya’s work explores the way cultural imaginations impact how one learns to approach performance and the performer(s).
