Sophia Tarducci

Bachelors of Fine Art

Sophia Tarducci aims to break down the walls between typical performance art and comedy, incorporating comedic aspects into all of her puppetry based work. Her concepts often circulate around queerness, femininity, and day-to-day social interactions, almost always taking on a narrative structure. Tarducci uses the mode of puppetry to create endearing characters through aesthetics, concept, and imagined worlds, utilizing this unique technique in all her recent pieces. The core goals of Tarducci’s work are to bring to light relatable but impactful issues and provide her perspectives and experiences to create a shared community among her and her audience, all done in a comedic tone.
One of the best storytelling techniques Tarducci has come across is collaboration; her and two other collaborators, Ethan Allen and Soph Schiavone, recently formed a puppetry company by the name of Shoestring Puppets. They have performed in shows at Links Hall and Archer Ballroom.
