Opening Reception: April 19, 7:00 p.m.

Zhou B Art Center, co-presented with Defibrillator Gallery

1029 W 35th St, Chicago, IL 60609

Open hours: Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

This exhibition accompanies the IMPACT Performance Festival (April 12 and 14), which serves as the culminating presentation of work in live performance by graduating MFA and BFA students from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). SAIC has a long history of supporting artists who create highly experimental work that responds to changing concepts of the body, time-based art, social practice, new media technologies, and the social and cultural conditions of a globally mobile society.

In this exhibition, participating artists expand on their work presented in the IMPACT festival, showcasing the multiple forms such as video, sound, drawing, photography, and sculpture, through which contemporary performance practice can be shared with the public.

The IMPACT festival and exhibition are co-presented by SAIC’s Department of Exhibitions and Performance Department, in collaboration with the Zhou B Art Center and Defibrillator Performance Art Gallery. The exhibition was coordinated by Alumni Producer Lauren Steinberg with Graduate Curatorial Assistants Giannella Ysasi-Tavano (MAAAP 2019) and Carlos Salazar-Lermont (Dual MA 2019).

The IMPACT Performance Festival and Exhibition are made possible with the generous support from the Zhou Brothers and Zhou B Art Center.
