Bio

Over the years Laura has worked as an art educator through various art outreach programs in Houston where she fostered community involvement and supported the arts in education.

As an interdisciplinary artist, Laura’s current body of work investigates migration as told through stories and sculpture and space. It is an examination of personal and cultural identity. A sense of home, belonging, and Other is a part of this inquiry. While examining notions relating to the liminality of migration, Laura investigates what it means to experience and exist between two cultural spaces, or how ethnic-identity of second and third generations are shaped by the experiences of their immigrant parents. She considers ways of navigating into a larger society as she explores the ambiguity and uncertainty affecting self-identity

Laura’s home is in Houston, Texas.
