Artist Statement

Tim Lamey’s practice encompasses landscapes in the broadest sense:  large and small, natural and man-made, sprawling and intimate, and real and abstract. Photography is used to document the interplay between the natural and the human-altered, to bear witness to moments of landscape transformation, and to dissect popular notions of nature.

Bio

Lamey honed his photography while completing advanced degrees in Biology/Zoology and working as a software engineer for many years. He has worked full time as an artist since September 2012. He is currently nearing completion of an MFA in Studio Art from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Lamey has exhibited broadly throughout the Midwest, in solo and juried group shows.
