Each painting is treated as its own and at first locked to its own history, references and associations. The decisions of style in each painting are feeling or impulse based rather than strategic. Different styles or categories of painting are therefore allowed without hesitation to happen and occupy space with one another freely. This occupation of space or installation is important because it is the structure in which the categories are able to level out, potentially leaving an emotive space that is not continent on understanding each painting’s historical or categorical meaning.
