The MFA Show is the culminating presentation of MFA candidates and an opportunity for new and ambitious work to be presented to the public. For more than six months, graduating MFA candidates work with a team of three distinguished Guest Curators and twelve Graduate Curatorial Assistants to envision the exhibition. This invested approach allows for dialogue, process, and collaborative decision-making to guide the curatorial teams as they work together with more than 115 participating artists to bring the MFA Show to fruition over time.
This year’s Guest Curators are Irene Hofmann (MA 1994), Phillips Director and Chief Curator of SITE Santa Fe, New Mexico; Michal Raz-Russo (Dual MAAH/MAAAP 2009), the Assistant Curator in the Department of Photography at the Art Institute of Chicago (AIC); Kelly Shindler (Dual MAAH/MAAAP 2011), Associate Curator at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis (CAM). They have worked in collaboration with a team of Graduate Curatorial Assistants: Frances Dorenbaum (MA 2016), Annalise Flynn (MA 2016), Zoe Goldman (Dual MA 2017), Lydia Gordon (Dual MA 2017), Jacelyn Kee (MA 2016), Ariella Miller (MA 2016), Zeenat Nagree (MA 2016), Lara Schoorl (MA 2016), Veronica Sines (MA 2016), Sarah Skaggs (MA 2016), Xinqi Tao (MA 2016), Ian Gabriel Wilson (Dual MA 2017).
