In the series Black Noise, I explore themes of time, speed, dromology, record keeping, and residue. In a moment characterized by violence and inequality, I find strength in vulnerability by recognizing the dissonance of our time and permitting disarray. Working iteratively, I recognize oversaturation and fear, not as forms of weakness, but as signifiers for the capacity of solutions beyond.
My work explores ontological questioning pertaining to so-called negative psychological affect within the context of neoliberal capitalism and the postmodern era. Two of the core questions that drive my practice are, “When and how do seemingly negative emotions mutate into fruitful sites of healing and growth,” and “What might it look like to access feeling beyond the oppressive apparatus.”
