Natia Ser

Artist Statement

This photo was taken on one of the last days before the pandemic hit, when people were enjoying the outdoors not knowing it would be their last time in a while doing so. During lockdown, I found myself staring at this image frequently, and rather obsessively. It feels strange to be out again now, to transform from the audience to the subject of this image I took what feels like centuries ago.

Laughter rings against my ears. Or is it an echo from the past?
I smell the soil as my palms rest on the cold glass.
I’ve lost count of the days.
