Body and landscape are mutual inscriptions of an intimate and never-ending relationship. Tracings of soil, mappings of continents, and modelings of territories record our contested histories upon the surface of the Earth: criss-crossing legacies of opportunity, displacement, enslavement, and extraction. In abandoning the abstraction of borders and empires, just and sustainable futures can emerge—through marks made and unmade.
