Julio C. Montano “NEGRO”

Julio Cesar Montano Montenegro is a native of Colombia; his hometown is Tumaco, a set of 3 islands rooted in the South Pacific. In Tumaco, Mr. Montaño founded the Corporacion Artistica Danzas “Ecos Del Pacifico”, Tumaco Stereo Radio Station Community and Cultural Tumaco Stereo and the Festival Kurrulao.

Mr. Montaño’s professional background is as an educator of social science, cultural anthropology and he has a Masters degree in arts and ancestral culture in territorial, cultural, and human rights. In this area he wrote three books of myths and legends.

Mr. Montaño’s creative background is as a choreographer, dancer and teacher of dance and Afro Colombo-Ecuadorian dance. Mr. Montaño as a graphic artist works with different materials and techniques, such as paper cutting, wood working, ink, screen printing, and fiberglass. He made of wood his ally to build the most beautiful ethnic drums.
