Miranda Ribeiro-Vecino

Master of Fine Arts in Studio, Sculpture

Miranda Ribeiro-Vecino is an interdisciplinary artist studying the mechanics of desire. Interested in this nexus of culture and identity, public and private spaces, she has been making hybrid forms out of plaster and paint and iPhones and other moving parts. Denim-on-denim gives the All-American Girl heterotopia a social, economic, and durable form. She bought used jeans in Quebec once and has lusted after the “Canadian tuxedo” of her wet dreams ever since. Ribeiro-Vecino is currently an MFA Candidate at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Ribeiro-Vecino studied at the New York Studio School in New York, NY, and received her B.A. in Fine Arts and Philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania. She has been featured in group exhibitions in Chicago IL, Philadelphia PA, and Richmond VA.
