Shu Yin (Kitty) Lai was born in Hong Kong and completed her undergraduate degree in architecture at the University of Edinburgh. She is currently earning a Master’s degree in Visual Communication Design at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Shu Yin’s practice explores visual storytelling across a diverse range of forms, materials, and environments, emphasizing multi-sensory and interactive experiences. Her work includes books, prints, editorial design, brand identities, data visualization, and spatial design. In her thesis, she uses the theme of urban development in Hong Kong and the displacement of local temples and deities to address the issue of place, heritage, and identity.
