Self-curated exhibition by

Elizabeth Flood, Patrick Glennon, Steph Patsula, and Terry Xu

Time Will Decide is a group exhibition showcasing the work of the School of the Art Institute’s 2024 Graduate Sound cohort. Sound emerges as a stimulant where Elizabeth Flood, Patrick Glennon, Steph Patsula, and Terry Xu weave it with various mediums and processes, inspiring a nuanced dialogue between the visual and the aural. Here, they push back against the ineffability often ascribed to sound and the sonic arts, investigating aurality’s role in memory, hegemony, community, and identity. Sound, fleeting and ephemeral, encapsulates the essence of time. The rhythm of existence unfolds in sonic waves where past, present, and future harmonize, inviting us to listen and contemplate the ever-changing cadence of our temporal journey. These works demonstrate a range of strategies for using sound to navigate our world during a period of renewed theoretical rigor in the sonic arts.
