It is my intention that my work represent my role and actions as a father as well as my children’s roles as receivers of care, givers of teachings and bringers of joy. The overwhelming emotional impact of parenthood, both positive (joy) and negative (crippling fear) seems impossible to encapsulate in one picture, so I use series, repetition, and symbols to, at the very least capture instances and sensibilities. The changes in the vocabulary I employ are tied to the growth of the children. As they adopt new interests and adapt to the constant changes of young life, I, in turn, incorporate the related imagery into my work.
