Artist Statement

I find myself informed by a telescoping and collapsing series of lenses, history and its interpretations, the collective construction of culture, the individual place in or response to those perspectives, a series of visible signs, marks or traces which like a vaporous mirage disappear as I come to the site of visitation. The evaporated vestige alludes to and is elusive to the double blind of sight, the alienation of waiting and the pleasure of site-seeing.

By opening ourselves to the encounter, we are inviting uncertainty, permitting something unforeseen, unexpected to happen: the strange encounter.

Bio

Morris Fox is a queer goth artist and poet based in Toronto, Canada. His work voices empty peripherals, studies a homesickness for Birth/Death/Afterlife (a moebius uncanny) and considers what is erased in duplication: both as loss & gain. Manifesting as a continuous questioning of where Goth is in globalization, he frames narrative works in the Umwelt of his own subject position.
