Stefanie Yan uses her body and video as main art practice mediums. She focuses on exploring contemporary China, reflecting what she has seen and experienced through performances. Her current work, “China Stage”, is a series of video performances that conveying the relationships between individualism with the aspect of ideologies under Chinese characteristic socialism government. By taking China as a stage, she depicts scenes that set in real places in Beijing and each one of the performances demonstrate a theme as a representation of contemporary China.
