I create art as a way to explore the visual aesthetics specific to urban spaces through a process that incorporates traditional painting practices along with commercial and industrial application techniques I use systems, grids and patterns to give an image a initial structure; from there I continuously build upon these structures through a reactionary process of superimposing imagery that references the seductive and chaotic environments that urban spaces provide I attempt to create work that pulls from many different genres of painting; the images are not dependent solely on one thing The paintings question image making hierarchies between figure and ground and background and foreground, as can be seen when implemented through homogeneous sizing, attention and the use of different mediums and application The images I create continuously borrow from the outside world; they are non perspective but rather illusions of newly conceived spaces
